Wheel and Rim Service

Wheels are the most important part of your bicycle for longevity and efficiency!!! The wheels I build are a matter of pride. With this I offer what I refer to as continuity of care a service plan for the life of the wheel to the original owner. free truing for life.

A few stipulations do apply:

• Truing means truing
• Damaged wheels are just that, damaged. Truing does not help them
• If your wheel is out of true, it's free
• Retain your paper work! With out it, no free service
• Please bring the wheel off bike and the tire off the wheel
• Allow 4 hrs for most jobs

Standard Wheel Truing: $5-$15

Lube the nipples and true the wheels

Standard plus: $10-$20

Adjust the hub/cones, lube the spoke nipples and true the wheels

Deluxe Wheel Truing: $15 to $25

True and re-dish the wheels Inspect the cones Inject grease into the hub Adjust the hub

Repack the front hub: $13

Replace balls and grease Readjust hub & cones

Repack the rear hub: $18

($35 per Sturmey Archer 3-speed hubs)

Replace balls and grease

Lube the internals of the freewheel or remove the cassette free hub body and lube the internals. Other internal hubs tend to take more time and are subject to our hourly rate of $35

Fix a flat/replace a tube

$5 on derailleur bicycles $10 on three speeds, five speeds and any other internal geared bicycles and some bmx. $10 or more for any enclosed chain bicycles, these sometimes take an hour.

Wheel Builds

$29 front $35 rear with the purchase of all parts through the shop*.
$40 on the existing hub with the purchase of spokes and rim through the shop*.
$60 with overhaul of hub, $50 without overhaul using your parts*.

FREE Wheel builds November through March when all parts are purchased trough the shop.

*Because "settling will occur", all wheel builds come with the Paramount warranty of six months free truing and adjustment of the hub.

Chain Repair and Service

Derailleur adjustment: $7-$15

Derailleur replacement: $20

Derailleur hanger alignment: $15-$25

Cable replacement: $5-$20

Brake Service and Repair

Installation of new pads with cable adjustment:

V Brakes $10 per wheel
Cantilever $10 per wheel
Road Caliper $7 per wheel

Installation of new brakes: $5-$40

V Brakes with levers and cables: $20-$40

Mechanical disk brakes: $20-$40

Bottom Bracket

Bottom bracket overhaul (cartridge): $20

($45 per hour fee applies for seized bottom bracket)

Bottom bracket repack (loose ball/cup and cone): $15

Headset repack: $15-$25 Headset replacement: $20-$40 or more (quill to double crown...) Re facing or milling to any of bottom bracket or headset add: $10-$20

Overhauls

An overhaul is recommended every 4000 to 6000 miles if you actually take care of your bicycle. During our busy season it is virtually impossible to schedule an overhaul, so plan ahead. An over haul comes with the Paramount warranty of two months free adjustment to these services to cover the break in period of virtually anyone's riding schedule.

Complete overhaul (September to March): $147.90

• Repack bearing in the hubs
• Repack bearing in the headset
• Repack bearings in the bottom bracket or remove cartridge bottom bracket*
• Chase/clean the bottom bracket threads of the frame need to be chased/cleaned
• Clean the frame and wheels
• Check the alignment of the frame, drop outs, and the fork.
• Clean all the drive train parts in a parts washer and inspect for wear
• Check for chain stretch and replace if necessary
• True & re-dish the wheels
• Replace all the cables and housing
• Adjustment of all components

*with the now common cartridge bottom bracket the removal of the cartridge is very important to avoid future seizing

Boxing a bike: $35 this is the industry standard of a single box, Deluxe bicycle boxing: $45
When boxing a bicycle we fit a smaller bicycle box into a larger one to maximize the strength, and thus minimize the impact during shipping. We have found that many of our boxes are able to sustain a return trip!! Shipping not included.
Building a bicycle from the box: $25-$60
Frame save your steel bicycle: $25 frame must be new and bare of parts This process takes 3 days.
Install a cycle computer: $10-$25
Install a rear/front rack or basket: $10-$25
Install fenders: $10-$20
Install new handlebars such as the popular high rise: $8-$25
Rigid fork alignment: $50 this includes disassembly of and repacking the head set
Rigid fork alignment off the bicycle: $50
Checking frame, fork and dropout alignment (often in the case of an accident): $20
Paint jobs are available through outside sources: ask for current charges.
Lessons are available through the winter months: $35 per hour These are one-on-one lessons with Tyler
